I confided in my ex about what happened to me and he said because I didn't physically fight back it didn't count. Me yelling no over and over while hysterically crying wasn't enough for the man who did it to me to know I "didn't want it". How am I supposed to fight someone off who has 50+ pounds on me and is 100x stronger? Like what?

had a friend whom I confided in about an assault. I explained how much it'd hurt. he said "well why didn't you fight back?" I said I did and he tried to kill me. replied with "well maybe you should've fought harder or fought dirty. sounds like you wanted it." those words haunt me.

My abuse didn’t happen cause my ex was civil with my current partner in passing. Him being civil and my partner not complaining overtly about him was enough for someone to assume what I went through couldn’t have been that bad, despite me telling them otherwise. Over a decade of friendship didn’t matter because my partner (who hates my ex with a passion anyway) had mild interactions, so clearly I was blowing stuff out of proportion. That person also never met my ex to make any real determination, it was fully what he THOUGHT another man’s opinion was that weighed more than what I had directly communicated. It took a long time to realize he just never believed me to begin with.
