@atsbaseball: On June 6th, 1993 an all out brawl between the Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles almost put an end to Cal Ripken’s streak of games played. In the fight Ripken twisted his knee and according to Harold Reynolds he could barely walk. But Ripken somehow made it back into the lineup the next day in a game time decision, keeping the streak alive. 2 years later he would break Lou Gehrig’s record of 2,130 straight games played and continued his streak up until 1998, where he voluntarily sat out after 2,632 consecutive games played.
