@siffhaider: Why are C-section rates so high today? In this episode, my doula, @Lori Bregman shares her perspective on how our healthcare system, provider workloads, and time constraints can influence the birth experience. We talk about why it's so important to understand your options, advocate for yourself, and make informed decisions throughout pregnancy and labor. 🎧 Listen to the full episode of THE DREAM BIGGER PODCAST on YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts. #dreambiggerpodcast #pregnancy #birth #labor #doula

I had an emergency C because induction meds caused my baby’s heart rate to decelerate

As someone who was pushed to wait 2 weeks past my due date and gave birth to a 10lb baby when my body frankly was not built/able to carry and deliver that—advocate for what you want. I would never wait that long again.

Our OB was super friendly with us one apt until we made it clear that we did NOT want a C-section unless absolutely necessary. With high risk being involved and our baby being almost 7 pounds at 34 weeks we wanted to discuss induction at 38 weeks to be able to stay within natural delivery and lower risk for the mother. Then she became snarky and very short with us. The environment and tone of the appointment took a very noticeable turn. It became very uncomfortable and made us feel like we weren’t allowed to have a preference. Even though we understood that outcomes can’t be predicted and that a C-section could still happen but if we could avoid it, that was the wishes of the mother.

My induction sucked so bad,I got induced at 37 weeks and 4 days cause high blood pressure. I was put on magnesium right away. The induction meds were not working. They tried placing the folley ballon when I was almost 1 centimeter and it would not work cause I was not dilated enough, I opted in for a C section and im glad that I did.

They let me push until it was no longer safe. It was either c section or my daughter could die. I think everyone thinks doctors are evil not always the case. I wasn’t pushed for c section at all. But it became either life or death.

This is not correct, it has everything to do with the increasing rise, availability, and fear of medical malpractice litigation. Doctors are less likely to expectantly manage a troubling strip or something borderline for fear of lawsuit.

Women are having their children older. They’re having geriatric pregnancies, which is 35 and above our heart and blood pressure can take prolonged labor . Our fetus are in stress as well as us. I have four girlfriends that had strokes at 37. Shaun would’ve stopped that.

They told me my daughters shoulders we’re measuring bigger than her head they were worried she was going to get stuck and scared me into a C-section and when she we born her head was bigger than her shoulders and I could have had her natural.

Well, for me induction was great because my water broke and I was in labor but after 16hrs, I was only 1.5cm... if I waited for my body to fully dilate, I think it may be day 3 or 4 when I give birth. SO much can happen to the baby at that time.

I had my kid in 11/20/2020 got called in for an induction, everything was fine till I received the Pitocin, a contraction came and didn’t go away, the cord wrapped around his neck, heart rate dropped, got rushed in for an emergency c section, had to get him out quickly so they started to cut before the anesthesia kicked in, probably felt like 3 inches of the first cut. 🤗
