ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba has reacted to the discovery of a suspected multi-million-rand drug manufacturing laboratory at a farm in Krugersdorp, Gauteng, where five South African nationals were arrested. The operation, involving the South African Police Service’s Crime Intelligence unit and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, known as the Hawks, uncovered quantities of Mandrax and ecstasy tablets at the premises. Police said the five people found at the property were arrested, while investigations at the scene continue. Mashaba used the development to raise concerns about the state of organised crime in South Africa, linking the latest drug laboratory discovery to what he described as the impact of the Government of National Unity (GNU). In his reaction, Mashaba claimed that international drug syndicates have increasingly regarded South Africa as a favourable environment for criminal activities since the establishment of the GNU. His comments come as law enforcement agencies continue to uncover suspected drug manufacturing facilities in different parts of the country. The Krugersdorp operation follows another suspected multi-million-rand drug laboratory raid in the Skeerpoort area near Hartbeespoort Dam earlier this week. Four people were arrested in that operation, while police also seized four firearms, including a rifle and three handguns. The latest Krugersdorp discovery has renewed attention on the activities of organised drug networks and the challenge facing law enforcement agencies in dismantling facilities used for the manufacture and distribution of illegal substances. Police have not yet provided a full assessment of the drugs and equipment recovered from the Krugersdorp property, with further investigations expected to determine the extent of the operation and those allegedly connected to it. please follow me #goviral #breakingnews #trending #sabc1 #dailysun
