In my experience, you move to New Brunswick for a couple years, discover true boredom, and then move back and find everything really interesting again.

People who complain about having “nothing to do” are usually those who just wait for life to happen to them. Get a hobby, volunteer for a cause or join a club…go to a local and talk to your neighbours. Join JAM sports and try out a new activity for a session. The city is alive and ready to give you what you need.

Activities that don't involve just eating and shopping: Canoeing/Kayaking down the Humber River. You can easily rent the equipment if you don't have it by the river. Lots of birds, turtles, and marshes to explore. Cycle from downtown Lakeshore through the Martin Goodman Trail (very scenic route). Picnics at Riverdale Park and Trillium Park. At Trillium Park, you can book the firepit and make smores while watching the evening city skyline. Hike to Evergreen Brickworks. Hike/bike Tommy Thompson Park. Visit High Park Zoo and Riverdale Zoo. Beach day at Woodbine Beach and explore Scarborough Bluffs. Movies in the park hosted by Toronto Picture Show. Shakespeare at High Park. Watch Broadway shows and musicals at Ed Mirvish, Soul Pepper Theatre Co, Alumnae Theatre (my fave). Do an improv class at Second City and at Bad Dog Comedy Studio. Try ax throwing. Art galleries- free ones are OCAD U Grad X, Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, AGO and Gardiner Museum free wed nights. Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) free Friday nights. (You can get the Toronto Public Library membership and get free passes too) Small art galleries: Gallery 44, A Space Gallery.. too many to name. Try a drop in pottery, painting and candle making workshop. VR sandbox Toronto. Rug tufting. Rec Room for arcade games. Rollerblading at The Bentway. Go bowling. Try an escape room experience. Visit Toronto Botanical Garden and Allen Garden Conservatory. Watch a lecture at Hart House. Watch a dragon boat race. Na-Ma-Res Indigenous Powwow. Caribana. AND SO MUCH MORE...
