When I got my adult autism assessment done my mom wrote for them that when I was in elementary I would go to school smelling like pee from wetting the bed, wearing dirty clothes, and with unbrushed hair. Like hmm.. actually I think that’s YOUR FAULT

it baffles me honestly. cause my parents provided supplies and all the physical things but fumbled all the emotional support so bad and reading the comments makes them look like saints in comparison. i'm hugging all of you

my mom asked me a week before my graduation if I was going to college. She didn’t help me do applications, she didn’t pay for any school fees, etc.. I didn’t even realize other kids parents helped them through those things

Years ago my mom asked me what’s wrong with her kids that most of them can’t tide a bike and they don’t start to drive until their mid 20s… like ma’am do you think others peoples’ kids just randomly acquire the skills to drive at 16 years old??

This is embarrassing but yeah I didn’t shower or regularly brush my teeth until … like middle school … when I met this girl (BFF to this day) who was like girl you gotta clean yourself and stop lying cause I know you didn’t brush your teeth this morning

I kind of wish my parents taught me skills or put me in hobbies that become skills. I also wish we would’ve had real conversations about careers and prepping skills to prepare for higher paying careers and not just default to them thinking I should just be a teacher

I had lice and fleas in my bed bruh 😂 Even now at 48, sometimes I will have little lighbulb moments of "I could BUY it!!" 😭 I will struggle for 2 years without a can opener, opening cans with a knife, or cutting my nails with giant kitchen scissors.... then one day I'll go "WAIT!! I can BUY a nail clipper!!" It's not about the price, it's just a whole life of just not having what you need and making do with what you do have.
