Although this is annoying, having your passport or at least a photo of it when you have to do just about anything as a non-resident is necessary. Even your hotel usually requires it..

Girl, delta did the same thing to me in Atlanta. After multiple delays, they “lost” my bag on the way home. Somehow it ended up in another city nowhere near me and then the bag went back to Atlanta. The only reason I got it back was because of the numerous phone calls and messages I sent to their customer service. I’m sure they got tired of me and “found” my bag finally to get rid of me
