@rachels_recs_: Nearly 800 porcelain bowls are floating across three water basins at the Park Avenue Armory 🩵💧 The piece is called clinamen, a sound installation by French artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot, set inside the Wade Thompson Drill Hall. It is made up of three 40 foot basins holding over 30,000 gallons of water, and no one plays it. A light current pushes the ceramic bowls into each other, and each collision makes a note, so the sound is always changing and never repeats. The title refers to the random motion of atoms, which fits a piece that is different every second. The space is indoor, climate controlled, and quiet, built to sit and listen. The Armory describes it as a meditation on time, meant to slow you down and pull your attention to something you cannot predict.
