I’ve been on a glp-1 for 17 weeks now and I’ve taken a lot of pictures as the time has gone by. Something I’ve noticed is that I only ever used to take “bad” pictures of myself before starting to post on TikTok and I’m not sure why that is. It was like I felt a lot of shame or embarrassment taking these pictures? So it felt easier to take the pictures like it was a mug shot or something 😭 I’m not even joking that’s what what first picture feels like to me. I think that as time has gone on, I’ve felt better at the gym. Which is weird to me because I’ve always enjoyed being in the gym. However, there were lots of moments in the gym over the last couple of years, where I felt out of place even if I really wanted to be there. I’m not sure why that was, but I felt that way. I’ve gotten comfortable taking up space in the gym again in a variety of ways. Like taking up a corner in the mat room with the equipment I need, being a big girl taking it slow and steady on the stair master, being a big girl a crushing it on the treadmill at a higher incline on a higher speed, or being a big girl in the locker room taking a cute picture of herself before her workout. I deserve to take up space and not just because I’m on a glp-1, but because I’m happy with the progress I’m making with my relationship to the gym and my body. It’s not just about existing in a smaller body, it’s about being proud at all sizes. The woman in the first picture was not proud, but she was also going through a TOUGH week emotionally.
