People act like discussing women’s rights would make Blade Runner “woke,” but the series has always been political. It has always explored oppression, inequality, corporate control, and the rights of those treated as less than human. Expanding those themes to include women wouldn’t be changing Blade Runner, it would be continuing what it’s always done. Though, women’s right isn’t even the focus of this series. The focus is what does it mean to be human.
