My lesson plans had gotten to 27 pages for one week and admin was asking for more. Plans were due by 4:30 on Friday, one week I forgot to upload them, I received an email at 4:35 demanding my lesson plans. I quit at the end of that year. I now work in a different district.

TBH, I keep uploading old ones except for the week of our announced observation bc no one looks at them. And same, between testing day and other changes, you rarely stay on track with your “plan”.

They wanted me to turn in lesson plans two weeks ahead of time my first year. I was a first year teacher, teaching four preps, two I wasn’t certified in. I also received literally no support from admin or other teachers. You can bet your ass I wasn’t turning in those lesson plans.

I had to do weekly plans at a couple of schools. Monday's plans were usually close to the reality. By Wednesday the plans were forgotten. I started putting song lyrics into the boxes. Dead Kennedys lyrics were my favorite to use.

Along the same vane as lesson plans, I don’t want to take data from a standardized test and then enter the data into a school mandated Google Sheets form. The testing company already put the scores into usable formats. Why isn’t that enough for admin?!? Waste of time

I can teach and do my sped paperwork or I can do the 25pages of lesson plans you want each week. I’ve done this for too many years to put five pages of plans for each class. I literally never look at them. I know what I’m doing, I don’t need to look at specifics. Also, subs can’t actually follow plans or teach what I need so why would I have them try to be me?

What’s the sub going to follow. Up the sub plans I either left easy to find on the desk or emailed to my team lead if it was a sick day. Also I simply post what the kids need to do online and if I had a planned absence, I left the instructions on the board.

Yes! I absolutely hate doing them. I’m in a similar boat because I have 3 different subjects. Almost 99% of the time I never even look at them after I submit them. My district uses Danielson and omg I loathe it.

My lesson plans are simple: teach kids how to read, write, and play music. My classes are always different day by day depending on the kids and what happens. can't lesson plan that.

I’m not required to submit lesson plans. If My sub plans are extremely detailed though, and before you ask I have e-mailed lesson plans to colleagues if I can’t drop them off myself.

I learned a lesson early on in my teaching career when I was in a very bad car accident and went up missing a week of school. Instead of leaving my lesson plans on the desk for an emergency purpose sub I would leave the list of assignments that we were working on that week. Yes I did have it listed as Monday, Tuesday, etc. but then what I would do is check off what I did and at the top of the page I had check equals complete. This way the sub had at least an idea of what we were doing. If I knew I was going to be out I had such a detailed lesson plan for the sub that there was no mistaking what I wanted.

We had a four page template. I helped make them for my team for the year so we had something to submit when asked (because no one is actually reading them). The next year there was a brand new template. Five pages. I asked why we couldn't use the ones I JUST made. Was told "because we worked hard to make these." I left that year.

I am so happy my current school allows us to do whatever we want, however, we need to have ABCDEF in them. I just made a Google sheet. It goes day by day. I’m done.

I have never understood lesson plans. When has a plan ever gone according to plan? My B-I-L is a history teacher and I’ve heard him talk about how he’s threw out plans because the students needed something different that day. I feel like it should be a lesson goal and not plans. As a Bus Driver I feel for teachers
