I've put surgery to the side for a year. Today I went for a second opinion and asked for other alternatives. I asked what could be causing it. The Dr basically said it's hard to tell, that's just the way he is. He said cutting them out would actually help his palate. He basically said what you said backwards. He said my son is a mouth breather because of the enlarged adenoids.

Thank you for sharing this! I feel like no one talks about it. An ENT immediately recommended removing my daughter’s tonsils and adenoids because they were enlarged. Something didn’t feel right, so I waited and got a second opinion. It turned out her mouth was too narrow and she needed expanders, which fixed the issue. I’m so grateful I trusted my gut instead of rushing into surgery.

Nowadays they shave them if there’s no history of strep. Honestly my daughter sleeps so much better with them shaved. She was a mouth breather and noisy sleeper. She would get sick like 1-2 weeks a month during cold and flu season - she missed so much school. Since the procedure she is amazingly healthy. Some kids need this z

my daughter had a tonsils and adenoid removed last week Friday and before the surgery was done we've been to the hospital since April down to on Friday that the adenoid and tonsils was removed, started having this problem at 6 months and I didn't take note I thought it was just normal until it started affecting her ears they are always rear wax coming out of her both ears. ears are always block down to this very end so when we went to the hospital we had to flush her ears twice and the dirt keeps coming back and they use something to measure inside her mouth and it happened to be that both tonsils are too too enlarged.sometimes when I brush her teeth I do see it but I didn't know it was something else I thought it was just normal so we have no option than to go for surgery and she had uh adenoid tonsillectomy surgery last week Friday. though before the surgery took place we did series of test and scans so I didn't just opt for the surgery we're doing test and repeating test a lot of tests a whole lot and we did scan and that was how she had her adenoidtonsilectomy surgery um she's getting better now

what if the child is Autistic and is constantly getting sick with ear infections and stuffed nose and coughing my son right now is being suggested to get an ENT. we had him on allergy medicine but its not working

My daughter had strep 6 times in 7 months and was constantly sick. We had her tonsils and adenoids removed exactly a year ago and it was the best thing we ever did.

my dentist won’t place an expander in my kiddos mouth until her tonsils are removed via surgery or unless we are able to naturally shrink them. I really would like to avoid removal. Any recommendations on how to shrink them?

My son is 7 years old and he’s been like this since he was little. First thing doctor is doing is a sleep test. Thanks for the info. Really trying not to do any surgery.

Flonase was their recommendation! I feel like I’m trying everything with myo therapy and I don’t really feel like I’ve found a provider that will take it seriously at their age. They just say to wait it out until they’re older or remove tonsils and adenoids. This was helpful! Thank you so much.

My 10 year old had tonsillectomy and adenoidrctemy, she has expanders but her jaw isn’t growing forward like it should. She is in braces on 4 of her top teeth. Her baby teeth do not fall out on their own resulting from adult teeth coming out. What else can we do so her jaw can grow properly to avoid jaw surgery in the future?
