I am deaf, wears hearing aids and sign language. Courage your son to use sign language to communicate. Sign language will make your son learn faster than using CI. I refuse to get it due many reasons and other deaf people/friends explain it cause them headaches, behavior change, unable to go on roller coasters like 6 Flags due head banging cause pain, unable to use MRI, and many more.

My uncle was one of the first in the country to receive a cochlear implant and the first in WA State! It was a game changer as he was an adult and lived most his life with impaired hearing! We did all learn ASL 😉

Hi just wanna say ur doing amazing. I was diagnosed with profound hearing los and had one cochlear and one hearing aid when i was 3 months. Ik my parents really were overwhelmed at first being new to learning about hearing loss, deafness, and deaf culture. Now i’m in college and deafness is huge part of my life. I love seeing parents advocate for therapy and sign language. You’re doing great!
