@burned_notbroken: If your partner is consistently doing these behaviors (in a way that is different from the past), it may mean they are emotionally detaching and the more they are doing, the further down the path of burnout they are going. One. They’ve stopped emotionally reacting to conflict and they’ve stopped trying to come up with solutions when there is conflict. They may say things like “I don’t know what to do anymore” rather than “let’s try this solution.” They’re not as bothered by conflict - there becomes a growing sense of indifference and apathy. Two. Their body language is withdrawn and reserved. There is a lack of physical contact, eye contact, initiation. Their vocal tone and their facial expressions are flat. They turn and lean away rather than settle in closely. This is their nervous system building a physical wall from a place of lack of safety. Three. They build a life that needs you less. They don’t revolve their social calendar around you or with you. They make plans solo more than they have ever before. You do less together as a couple and when you do spend time together, it has lost its playful, light tone. It’s roommates at best, but more like acquaintances. Four. They now do things that they used to complain of you doing (and they no longer care that you do them either). They may spend more time on their phone, later at work, with their friends or family, not text back quickly, etc. Things that used to bother them now are a non-issue… from a place of apathy. Five. They insinuate that they are losing hope with how they talk about the relationship. They say things like, “I don’t know how to get you to understand me,” or “how many times do I have to bring this up,” or “I’m lonely and feel like I’m the only one who cares.” Their hope that things can be different is dwindling fast. If this resonates, welcome. I’m CJ and I talk about the burned out pursuer dynamic because I lived it and was able to get to the other side with my marriage intact. Viveka Schwartz :
They are no longer as interested in you as they once were. They no longer see a future with you, but they don't know how to tell you without hurting you. They may also be confused by their own change in feelings. At the same time, they might be afraid of ending the relationship and being alone, so they stay until they meet someone else.

Yup….I tried for years and then realized when I wasn’t getting reciprocal effort or emotion despite communicating VERY clearly with plain language, I realized I was begging for intimacy from the one person i shouldn’t have to. She was busy with her own things and ran up bills. I stopped getting pulled into emotional traps.
