Hmm not a good idea. If the pavement is too hot to the back of you hand stay home. Temperature regulation: The paw pads contain sweat glands, one of the few places dogs can sweat. This helps a little with cooling, though panting is their main way to regulate body temperature. Sensing the environment: Paw pads contain many nerve endings that help dogs detect texture, pressure, vibrations, and temperature, allowing them to navigate different terrain.
