oh my turn my turn! 1. In The Time of The Butterflies - Julia Alvarez. set in the Dominican Republic in the 1960s, during the last days of Trujillo’s dictatorship through the POV of 4 sisters. couldn’t put it down. 2. Yonder - Jabari Asim. follows a group of escaped enslaved people going from the south to the north. the characters are so human & written so beautifully. 3. The Phoenix Pencil Company - Allison King. dual setting in WW2 China, & modern day America - following a girl and her family’s pencil company. this one is very fantastical whereas the others are more realistic, but just as great. 4. The Mercies - Kiran Millwood Hargrave. a gory & realistic depiction of witch trails in 1617 Norway. it’s less witchy & much more feminist, showing the way that women were treated by religious men when they were “saved” during that time.

I am reading From Sand & Ash by Amy Harmon. Historical fiction WW2 set in Italy. Eva a Jewish young lady and Angelo is becoming a Catholic priest. Just getting started but it's sucking me in. 😊

Winter Garden by KH is soo good; it also has a timeline in Russia during ww2. Slow start but you end up seeing why!

I LOVED What the Wind Know!! I’ve told so many others to read that book. And of course, just about ANY Kristin Hannah is worth the read. Nightingale was my favorite but The Four Winds is second.
