Let me get this straight: we defer this thing called “life” until we “retire,” and then when we “retire,” we’re supposed to defer it another 18 years so we can optimize starting at 79? Hard pass. See you in Maui at 62.

Did you factor health insurance costs from 62 to 65? With the recent administration subsidy cuts, it'll run minimum of $1,000/month, more for family? That's the ONLY reason I waited until 65...

I still work and make over 150,000 a year. I’m almost 62. Why would I want to take SS? This is a real question. Not arguing. I really want to know if I should take ss at 62

Doesn’t add up…if I’m making nearly $300k until 67, SS gets delayed anyway. I guess he’s looking to take SS at 62 and not working.

I totally agree with you and I tried to do the same thing except they would only let me make $22,000 a year and I want to keep working. So I’m waiting in time 67 so I don’t have any income limits..

Can you create a post about retiring at the age of 55 with 401K?

It's not always about maxing out the overall benefit. Some people can't afford to live on the benefit amount at 62. They wait for the higher pay to better cover their expenses.

Your healthcare insurance premiums will eat that until you turn 65 for Medicare.

What’s the point in collecting ss at 62 if your other retirement accounts are more than enough to live on?

That is exactly the reason I took it at 62. I did all the calculations and…. Yes best decision I ever made and thank God I have been going and exploring and LIVING 💯💕I am 65 and haven’t regretted it yet:)
