It's not about the presence if a weapon, it's about an imminent threat of death or great bodily harm. imminent threat needs weapon, intent, and delivery system (the ability to use the weapon) Police know that. All lives matter, even blue ones.

I would recommend that you do a ride along with multiple police officers; ask them questions about the encounters they have had. You will then understand why they have guns.

My cousin has schizophrenia. He is a homeless black man here in Madison. He can be dangerous and is in and out of jail, but he is a human being and can be kind as well. It genuinely could’ve been him that was shot and killed in the street like that, and that was one of my first thoughts when I heard what happened before Corey was identified. This whole thing has created such a divide in our city it’s just a mess😞

I worked 3rd shift ALONE for many years in diff industries. If I can do it & deal w/ high ppl, weapons pulled, etc, then 4 (soon to be 5) cops, with tasers, batons & body armor sure can. What they did was unacceptable & I'm glad there are still empathetic people out here to care.

Thanks for sharing. I used to work with kids with mental health issues in Madison public schools. We had to learn how to de-escalate volatile and violent kids without resorting to excessive force

I’m also adhd autistic(n in madison) thank you for sharing, in my experience growing up in and out of the psych system for autistic self injury, I’ve gotten to know n be friends with a lot of schizophrenic ppl, they have an incredibly similar creativity and need for routine, it is neurodivergent, it’s a way a brain can process input, love em, they’re just people dealing w their own shit . Also I’m curious how your experience wrapped up?

Absolutely ALL lives matter. But protection is necessary. Is it in the wrong hands mostly? Yes. But that shouldn’t take away from us wanting to protect our families. This is why without Jesus, we are left open and unprotected. The blood of Jesus will protect us. 🙏
