There is a quality of life scale online for knowing when animals are ready to go. The best advice I got is there is no "right time" you're either too early or too late. and too late is painful.

Try not to worry… get the vet out there and they will give you the best advice. She’s an old girl and unfortunately having animals this is always the worst part. You’re being a great momma! Prayers for Gracie!

I’m no expert but I do know you can’t let her lay down for too long as she won’t be able to rise again. I saw this in a few donkeys living next to me at the end. I found them both down. You’re loving her and doing your best for the old girl. It is sad. It’s okay to accept her end in a humane way.
