I can only speak for myself..when friends from abroad visit my hometown(Amsterdam) I just take them to a restaurant where I know the food is good, there’s something for everyone on the menu and we can catch up. I’d give them recs for the things they can only find in Amsterdam for the remainder of their trip..it’s hard to decide for a group of people to eat a very specific food like a seafood boil. Also Europeans are more about the catching up than the food, we take our time, so maybe that’s also a factor in his decision.
