If you knew what my life looked like the night of April 25, 2025—the last time I used drugs and drank—you’d understand. I was stabbing a syringe into my arm, desperately trying to get one more high. And then something happened. I woke up that day, and my life changed forever. Now, almost 15 months later, I’m sitting here eating ice cream wrapped in Fruit Roll-Ups, laughing like I’ve never laughed before. There’s joy in my heart I never knew. Peace I never had. And gratitude that sometimes completely overwhelms me. That’s the miracle. Not the ice cream. The fact that I’m here to fucking enjoy it. So if you find yourself sad today, go get a snow cone. Sit in your car. Play your music way too loud. Look at yourself and say: “Look how far I’ve come.” Maybe you still have a long way to go. But turn around for a second. Look at the distance you’ve already traveled. Because if you’ve already made it this far, you have proof that you can keep going. Don’t forget to smile. Don’t forget the little things. Don’t get so focused on where you’re going that you forget to be grateful for where you are. And if you’re struggling right now, know this: Freedom exists. Joy exists. Peace exists.
