@abc7ny: Police in New Jersey are investigating after several children attending a YMCA summer camp in East Orange allegedly consumed suspected mushroom-laced edibles. Video shows a mother racing her 12-year-old to the hospital, after her child was one of the 13 campers who consumed the drug-laced chocolate. Tap the link in our bio for more.

ugh i was the director of a summer camp and there’s always misplaced anger. i understand you’re upset that your child had something happen to them but it’s not like the counselor was the one handing that shit out!! they followed protocol and after the incident happens that’s all you can do. maybe let’s be angry with parents who had edibles so accessible that their child was able to bring it to camp!! and if the kid knew what was in it (since they’re 12 that wouldn’t surprise me) maybe let’s be upset with the kid who put the other kids in danger

Yall talking about hold the kids accountable is crazy. Kids will be kids the adults THE TEACHERS should have seen someone handing out food before MANY students had it. Ive noticed kids who are older they dont pay as much attention to bc “there older” which is unfortunately how shit like this happens

My child was also affected by! THE YNCA DID NOT RESPOND PROMPTLY, DID NOT CONTACT THE PARENTS IMMEDIATELY, THEY DID NOT RESPOND OR KNOW UNTIL THE KIDS STARTED SHOWING SIGNS ! If policy states no sharing why didn’t any staff member see this beforehand?? Wasn’t even during snack time or lunch time

being drugged with shrooms is bad enough but imagine tripping and people recording you and ending up in a hospital. that poor kid was probably ao terrified in so many ways.

The video said “Staff NOTICED the child handing out the candy to other campers, WHICH IS AGAINST THE CAMP POLICY” the camp did not stop the child from passing out the candy, they only followed the emergency procedure AFTER they noticed children having a reactions to the laced candy. So yes, the camp is also at fault. Had they have followed their own procedure, stopped the child from handing it out. Maybe THIRTEEN CHILDREN would not have been 💊rugged.

It definitely shouldn't happen, but it's not the YMCA's fault. they seen a child handing out candy. They immediately intercepted, and the police got called, as well as parents.

oh helllllll no. the parents need to be locked up 😭 how did your child have access to psychedelic edibles.. and then the kid managed bring them to summer camp?! 🤔 no one is perfect, but some things you should know to lock up. makes me wonder what else is going on in the home, it’s screaming negligence.
