Anyone else have that high pitch noise through the video? Is he downloading a program to the HMI receiver on this end?

actually, the worst thing that can happen when you plug in a random flash drive is that the centrifuges you use for enriching uranium start to spin at unsafe speeds and tear themselves apart.

The application needing to be in a specific folder lost me half a day when I first learned about it. I kinda get why they do it but no clue why they dont just check the root folder

AB really makes things sketchy with firmware and bios updates…especially loading old programs on newer hardware. Nothing bricks an HMI quicker than the wrong version of controlFLASH. (Please don’t ask me how I know this)..

I like the part you mentioned, if there’s a power blip no one has to hit a specific button. Why programmers not default to a main screen? Laziness I imagine. I received a call for exactly that that resulted in a 4 hour downtime until I arrived to push the magic button. I changed that immediately after.

Panelview plus 7 has been an absolute downgrade in reliability for us. As soon as our ancient panelviews started going bad and we replaced them with these, we started having to replace them like they're disposable. Allen Bradley says they have the same environmental ratings as the old ones but they are not the same.

You don't need to manually make the folders. If you put your flash drive in the hmi and try to load the program without the correct folders, the panel view will auto populate the correct folders to your thumb drive. all you need to do is plug the USB drive into your PC and move the runtime to that now populated folder.

I had to use Allen Bradley's panel view once and it was one of the worst experiences I've had as a PLC programmer, I think it's the only system in the world where you can't rotate an element according to a reference, you can't rotate 90°, you can't rotate 180°, you can't mirror, you can only "rotate", this is one of the many reasons why I hated using them
