That first scene is one of my favorites from the entire franchise. It’s implied that the mom is a widow and the husband likely died in World War 2. It’s terrifying how the horrors from the war that killed that man came back and were manifested in the form of Godzilla which took the rest of his family. Such a great film man

as goofy and sometimes stupid as godzilla films can be the first film will forever be a chilling tale of not only war but the horror of mankind godzilla is walking reminder of the horror of war itself and how far people are willing to go for victory even if it means destroying everything in its path much like a nuke godzilla brings destruction they are in the sense monsters
