I understand completely. I am currently losing my Dad to Alzheimer's. Praying God takes him soon. For this is a life he never wanted to live. I'm so proud of the Man he was and will continue to speak of all the great things he has done. ❤️

I feel the same. I didn’t shed a tear when my dad passed. I was relieved, for him and for me. I lost my dad years before he died. That’s when I grieved. I keep him alive in my head.

My dad that had dementia for the past 11 years, just passed on 7/17/26. I felt like I lost my dad at least 5 years ago. My grief of losing him last week keeps coming in waves. I'm just happy he is finally at peace.

Oh no i didn’t realize he passed I’m sorry but i know your feeling my mom has dementia for 10 years now I think im sadder now while she’s here than when she’s gone bc at least then she’s free of this awful disease

I think I understand what you mean. I was mom’s caregiver for 5-1/2 years. I just lost her on 7/15. I’m very sad but grateful to have been with her as she passed. But I get what you mean-grieving for years-the long goodbye. 💔
