@dariusryankadem: We often exclude young children from everyday tasks because we assume they'll get in the way, make a mistake, or slow us down. But when we give them a meaningful role, they are learning far more than how to complete the task itself. They're watching how we assess a problem, listening to instructions, coordinating their actions, remembering what comes next, and noticing what is happening around them. Because the experience is real, all of these capacities are being used together rather than taught separately. Caring for someone begins with noticing them. Noticing requires awareness, and awareness develops when children are actively involved in what is happening around them. The reframe is simple. Do not only ask whether your child can help you complete the task. Ask what they could develop by being allowed to take part. If you struggle to know when to step in, when to step back and how to involve your child without making everything harder, this is exactly the kind of shift we work on inside Steady Ready Parent. Great video as always. One question about praising , what is the difference between praising her for being “observant” versus “smart”?

I always thought holding the flashlight was just to make me feel included
until I had to hold a flashlight while doing something with both hands. it was nice to recontextualize those moments with more respect for myself
