People who wanted her to have an arc where she becomes a warrior like Carol or Michone do not understand her character. She is genuinely one of the most beautiful written characters of the show. Her strength was in not changing who she was to survive. She’d rather die being herself. Not implying that the other people did anything wrong but that was the decision she made. Deciding to prioritize and not abandon her humanity is just as much of a difficult path (look at Carol in later seasons). I’m just annoyed that when she finally got the confidence to try and survive her way because she wasn’t scared of dying staying true to herself, they killed her off. I do think her dying could have been okay if they let it have more impact. She told Daryl that he would miss her one day, she knew she didn’t have as high of a chance to make it and it would further show her strength in choosing to live the way she wanted and die the way she wanted instead of dying being someone she’s not. She was unique in that way. Even though I’d like to see someone like her and in later seasons Carl (more youthful, kind, idealistic characters) survive, her death could have been so much more! I like the arc with Dawn and the hospital, she proved to us viewers that she wasn’t naive and weak like the rest of the characters interpreted/stapled her as. I do see the vision with Dawn killing her but it was way too early for her to go. She just became a real fleshed out character. Yes she was an example of unnecessary death but we already had and got so much more of that later on anyway. Make her story hers! Also the fact that Noah died right after and they never talked about her so her death had no impact. I would have loved to see Noah and Maggie become super close because he feels like he owes Beth his life play out on screen. Not just “oh yeah we’re family now bc there was a time skip or something”. Also the fact that they killed Tyreese the other big hearted character right after diluted both of their deaths. Both of them died in connection to Noah just for him to absolutely flop. The two big hearts of the group that kept beating for everyone wasted! They carried the humanity of the group🫀☹️
