As a former Division I athlete, I’m genuinely confused why advocating for women’s sports has suddenly become viewed as a partisan issue. Wanting fair competition isn’t inherently right wing or left wing. It’s about fairness, opportunity, and protecting the purpose of women’s competition. West, you played a Division III men’s sport, so respectfully, your experience is different from that of women competing for roster spots, scholarships, championships, and records. Even if the number of cases is relatively small, the impact is very real to the women directly affected. We should be able to have this conversation without immediately reducing it to politics. And before anyone tries to label me because everything is apparently political now, I’m left wing, I support women, and I don’t date my friends’ wives.
