This immediately reminded me of “The Egg” by Andy Weir. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s a beautiful short story and absolutely worth a few minutes. What fascinates me is how both ideas seem to point in the same direction: what if we’re not truly separate, but different expressions of the same consciousness, living countless lives to experience every possible perspective? If that were true, then every life would contribute something to the whole. Every joy. Every loss. Every lesson. It even changes how I think about love. Maybe falling in love with another person is, in a strange way, consciousness recognizing itself through another pair of eyes. I don’t know whether any of this is literally true. But I love philosophies that make me treat other people with more compassion, because if we’re all connected in ways we can’t fully understand, then kindness is never really given to “someone else.” Beautiful video. It gave me a lot to think about.
