Did you know the terrifying walls of Attack on Titan were inspired by a real place in Japan? 🫣 This is Hita City in Oita Prefecture, the absolute birthplace and hometown of AoT’s creator, Hajime Isayama! 🙌 Growing up surrounded by massive mountains, Isayama often wondered if there were monsters hiding just beyond them. That exact feeling gave birth to the world we love. If you are a fan, you have to add these exact spots to your Japan bucket list: - Oyama Dam (The Real-World Wall Maria): Stand at the foot of this massive 94-meter dam to find the bronze statues of Eren, Mikasa, and Armin looking up in pure horror. Pro-tip: Head to the top of the dam to see the exact point-of-view of a Titan looking down! - JR Hita Station: The second you step off the train, you are greeted by a life-sized bronze statue of Captain Levi Ackerman keeping watch over the plaza. (Look closely inside the station for character banners and AoT-themed locker art!) - Attack on Titan in HITA Museum: Located at the Mizube no Sato Oyama roadside station. It features Hajime Isayama’s actual childhood drawings, his original manga manuscripts, and a perfect replica of his writing desk. Entry is around 500 yen! - The Museum ANNEX: Located inside the Sapporo Beer Kyushu Hita Brewery. This is where you can see Isayama's personal commentary on the final chapters and experience a massive, 360-degree "Immersive Comic" digital screening. - AoT Civic Cultural Hall Cafe: A cozy spot to grab regional snacks and AoT-themed meals surrounded by life-sized character cutouts and production art. 🚊 Take the Limited Express train from Hakata Station in Fukuoka straight to JR Hita Station (about 1 hour and 15 minutes). #AttackOnTitan #hita #oita #aot
