In 1986 I was a senior in high school. Even though we had enough credits to graduate already, they still made us take classes. Mostly they were electives. I was in a fashion merchandising class and one of my classmates is a pageant girl. She’s beautiful, always confident dates the star football player. She walks into class late one day and crumbles to the floor. She’s sobbing to the point that the teacher is afraid she’s going to throw up. It’s all girls in this class so we gather around her and she tells us the most horrifying story. She’s at the miss teen USA pageant. She’s backstage and she’s changing clothes. At one point, she’s naked and the “pageant owner” grabbed her by her bare breasts and hold her behind the curtain and started touching her and doing other things. Her pageant coach was across the room and saw him grab her and got to her as fast as she could. Barely saved her from being raped. I did not know it at the time, but found out within a couple of years that the man’s name is Donald Trump. I knew he was a pedophile in 1986. I have zero interest in knowing his politics. I don’t care. I know for a fact that he he is a predator of little girls and has been for over 40 years.

How people reacted and embraced or rejected this administration will forever be a litmus test for me on who can be in my life. That includes friendships and any potential dating prospect. It’s always true what they say that you find out who somebody really is under duress. I would say these times we’re all under duress and it’s revealing people and I will never forget.

My dad ran for city council last year. His slogan was “running on MAGA” values. I spoke out against him & urged people not to vote for him. He did not even win the primaries. I don’t regret it one bit.
