Yes with a keratin treatment what is active is not the keratin but just the ‘glyoxylic acid’ or ‘formaldehyde’. Yes in that case keratin is just for marketing purposes

For a long time I absolutely did not understand the difference between keratin smoothing and keratin treatment. I thought the ogx keratin smooth shampoo would straighten my hair in like 2016 lol.

They are adding it (the solution) to the condition (not a conditioner w/ keratin) and it’s activated by heat. Thank you, but I personally experienced them doing it (I am also a senior cosmetologist-that’s how I discovered it) and it damaged my natural hair. Yes, it’s a treatment and yes they are adding it at the bowl friend. In addition, the treatment can be very damaging to the hair. Yes…you should be very concerned.

Thank you for explaining the difference! Bc i was def one of those ppl confused. Kinda like in middle school when my yt friend said she was getting a perm and came back with curly hair. Im like a perm dont do that to me 😂 then i learned the actual difference btwn perm and relaxer lol
