January 1, 2023 I made a significant life change. At first it started as a challenge. I was going to give up alcohol for 30 days but what happened in the first 30 days really hit me. I realized how much I relied on it. I realized how much it was apart of my life. I realized everywhere I went, the people I hung out with, the events I chose to attend “for fun” all revolved around it. The Lord changed me through this experience and I am forever grateful. I began sleeping better. I no longer spent my weekends hungover and only able to give my kids a percentage of me and I would repeat the whole process over again. Society loves alcohol even though it destroys the most families. It destroys your health, it is literal poison. And I don’t say this to shame anyone, I’m merely sharing an eye opening story that the Lord gave me and I’m forever grateful for. By the second month I had decided I was completely done. The amount of urges I had scared me. The way my life completely changed showed me I was on the right path, even though I didn’t have much in common with my “friends” anymore. I was ok with that. And over the years I’ve only had more confirmation of my choice. You’d be surprised at the amount of people that judge you for “not drinking”. It has become so normalized within our culture 😢 If this post can encourage one person, I’m happy. Becuase living “set apart” is hard. If you ask the Lord to change your heart, to take it away, he will. DM if you want to chat 🤍 #soberlife #christisking #thankyoujesus
