As I watch what is unfolding across Nigeria, especially the increasing interest in land, minerals, oil, and other natural resources, I can’t help but reflect on Ezekiel 38. The prophecy describes a people who have been gathered back to the land, and then a coalition comes with a purpose: “To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods…” — Ezekiel 38:12 (KJV) For us in Nigeria, land is more than soil. It is ancestral land. It is inheritance, identity, livelihood, and the legacy passed from one generation to the next. If a people come to take the spoil, can they do so without first gaining access to the land from which that spoil comes? Whether the spoil is livestock, agriculture, oil, gas, gold, lithium, or other resources, the land itself becomes central to the discussion. I am not saying today’s events are the fulfillment of Ezekiel 38. I am saying the text invites us to pay close attention, study carefully, and discern the patterns before us. “To take a spoil, and to take a prey…” (Ezekiel 38:12) Read the Scriptures. Observe the times. Test every conclusion. I especially like the sentence: “For us in Nigeria, land is more than soil. It is ancestral land.” #fyp #viral #nigeria #land #africa
