Find a pal that drops them when you kill them (We used Dandilord) and breed them for the deconstructer. Its slow to start, but once the Danidlords start hatching, its consistent and doesnt require a ton of upkeep or focused time/energy.

the relic recycler is the best. I used the recycler for about 10 minutes and had over 300 ancient cores

This is my tried and true method of getting cores, expeditions take too long! Doing the terraria dungeon is also good for the weapons as well. you can load any pal that's in your pal box to fight. Depending on your level of pal box will determine how many you can summon. Then you can also summon one from your party as well. A little tip, always use the raid dungeon because you can keep fighting there once defeated or completed. If you fight in the open world, once you've completed said fight you have to craft another altar. You can get a cool helmet, it's basically the boss but you can equip it as a helmet or use it as a transmog for just the looks. I wouldn't recommend doing the legendary one as it's lvl 80 with 2.4 mil health

The ancient relic recycler. Grind the 40 I think it is you need for that machine. Once you have it throw a pal team together that increases drop rates. I have over 1400 cores now because of the relics I’ve gotten.
