Colin Gray, Father Of Apalachee High School Shooter, Sentenced In Georgia (11Alive) BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — Colin Gray will spend 15 years in prison on his conviction of second degree murder and other charges in relation to his son committing the September 4, 2024 shooting at Apalachee High School that took four lives. Defense attorneys for Colin Gray, the father of Colt Gray, had asked at his sentencing hearing for 10 years in prison, describing a long sentence for the 55-year-old as a "death in prison sentence." The State meanwhile argued he should effectively be sentenced the same as his son, who was given life without parole earlier this week — they asked for 80 years, saying, "He deserve the maximum of punishment." "My heart aches for everyone who was there that day, for all of you that have been impacted by it, but the law requires that I set aside emotion, I don't get to sentence with passion," Judge Nicholas Primm said as he was sentencing Colin Gray, two days after he had sentenced Colt. "I have the nearly impossible task of sentencing you without passion despite the immeasurable heartache that you've caused." Judge Primm said it mattered "that you didn't intentionally commit a crime... it matters that you didn't pull a trigger." Perhaps forecasting his sentence, the judge opened by noting that "in American justice, the highest level of criminal responsibility or culpability is for someone who willfully, knowingly, intentionally commits a crime; the lowest level of criminal culpability is criminal negligence — you didn't intend to commit a crime but you ignored foreseeable harm, you failed to act in a certain way, you failed to intervene." #newstiktok #truecrime #truecrimecommunity #truecrimetok #newsupdate
