Tyler Robinson's roommate and romantic partner told an investigator that Robinson said he "wishes he hadn't done it" when asked about the shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University last year. Prosecutors showed part of a video of Lance Twiggs' interview today during the fourth day of Robinson's preliminary hearing on seven charges, including aggravated murder. The investigators asked Twiggs about Discord messages that Judge Tony F. Graf Jr. ruled could not be displayed publicly after Robinson's lawyers said prosecutors are classifying them as confessions so publicizing them would prejudice Robinson's right to a fair trial. The proceeding underway in Utah's 4th Judicial District in Provo is not a trial. It is a hearing for Graf to determine if probable cause supports the charges against Robinson. You can watch a 24-minute clip of everything that was shown in court on my YouTube channel or Facebook page. This clip begins with the investigator asking Twiggs about his in-person conversation with Robinson on Sept. 11, after the online messages late on Sept. 10. (Kirk was shot at 12:23 p.m. MST on Sept. 10.) Twiggs said Robinson "didn't go into detail." "He just, I just asked him in person if what he said was true the night before, and he said it was," Twiggs said. "He started crying a little bit and said he wishes he hadn't done it, and then kept going around and just doing stuff, I think, to keep himself busy or distracted or something." Twiggs said Robinson "eventually said that he would talk to his parents or turn himself over."He said he "didn't really want to be at our apartment while any of that was happening, regardless of what went down." "Okay. Before he came home, had you seen the press, the press releases, any of the media on this?" the investigator asked. "I'd seen one Instagram, like, link a friend of mine had sent in our group chat, but I hadn't really looked into it at all," Twiggs said. Twiggs said he saw photos of the suspect "the next day." The investigator showed him some of the images. "I wouldn't say with 100% certainty, just because of camera quality, but that looks like him in terms of the shoes he's wearing, the sunglasses. I don't think I'd specifically seen him wearing that hat, but he was usually wearing a hat, and then jeans, so it definitely, especially the bottom, the last two definitely do look like him. They do look like Tyler Robinson," Twiggs said. #law #crime #court
