I work for the water department and have done hundreds of main repairs. What you are doing is extremely dangerous. When a watermain break, depending on how the break is, whether it's gonna blow out or a mild leak. That is like a big pimple in your yard. And the only thing that's holding everything together is the grass on top. If you would happen to fall in through, you could be 8 feet, 10 feet deep. And you would drown i had a customer. They had a main leak in his yard, and he was doing the same thing, thinking it was funny and I yelled at him and told him to get out of my work. Area And when I opened it up with the excavator I showed him how deep it was, his mouth dropped. I say, if you would have fell in there by time I got that excavator to open it up. You would have been dead, don't ever do that. What you are doing very dangerous.

In Texas u can send the utility people the invoice for the fix and they will comp ur bill not the whole thing but a lot of it
