Yes, police can see your phone if there’s actual evidence wrongdoing that they suspect may be on your phone. But they need a warrant to go through your phone, otherwise it will violate cases like Mapp v Ohio 1961, and Riley v California, US v Wurie so anything found would be in not admissible in court

there is always that one cop who comes up with far out theories like "how do I know your not hire by the uncles, brother, neighbor, second grade teachers, grandchild who has ties to a Nigerian prince who could have paid you to be here?" So, he had to arrest you and charge you with some fantasy charges because in the end now matter what he won't be the one paying you for violating your rights. It’s crazy that somebody is claiming a large sum of money was stolen and the cops go after the ppl using the first amendment to draw attention to the theft are the ones getting arrested. You’d imaging the cops would investigate the theft
