This is kinda long. Sorry… Eventually, Magic becomes more like…catching a fleeting sight of a rainbow, stepping outside just as it’s about to rain and you can smell it coming… It’s not the thing itself that’s Magic, it’s the fact that in all of the history of the entire f*cking universe, right then, in that tiny moment, you witnessed something so fleeting and beautiful that it takes your breath away. And somehow, despite all the chaos of this world, your mind paused long enough to notice it. Eventually, you start arranging your life to curate moments like that. And you get it: the magic was always there, you were just distracted by life and religion. Life is unexplainable. It’s wildly magical sh*t.

FYI: I still believe in beauty and amazing thing and I’m in awe of the universe and nature in big ways. But it just feels different than magic. Magic being Believing that laws of nature can be defied. 🩵

I left the church about a decade ago. And this was a piece I missed. A connection to something bigger. 2 yrs ago I started pulling tarot, just as a way to purposefully self reflect and see if I could get that connection to *something*. I now find that it’s what I was doing all along with ‘Bible study’ I take what’s in front of me and see how it connects to my life. I’ve come to lovingly appreciate ‘the universe’… to me there’s a connection to the magic of the universe and it’s always working things out for me. Not in a deity way were it has my path planned and wants to punish me if I don’t follow the rules. More of a gentle breeze that’s always there when I need to feel something. I’ve come to trust my gut and my intuition in ways I never did when I was religious. It’s almost as if, in searching for something bigger, I truly found the magic in myself.

the magic is in the small things. the rainbow that shows up when you just needed beauty. the bird feather that seems to fall directly in your path. go outside. sit on the ground and lean against a tree. then just watch the world around you. the magic is there. it will show itself again

I’ve gotten really into believing in nature, divine magic all around us all the time. Magic is just whimsy! Run barefoot through the grass, and make flower crowns from daisies, sing with birds. It is so incredibly magical that we are here exploring and experiencing such a big beautiful world, it’s quite literally unexplainable how we ended up here in the first place. Let your imagination run free, make fairy houses and plant a pretty garden and watch the magic unfold while your first blooms appear. I always refer to Pocahontas as the easiest way to capture the miracles that happen around us everyday, they’re all connected and beautiful, and so so MAGICAL. Believing in nature and its divinity has given me a different perspective on what magic truly is

Five years out I felt the same way, ten years out I’m more whimsical and magical thinking than ever. You need the time to unpack the patriarchal magic you were raised with and then you can really start to connect with your divine feminine and the magic that was yours all along.

I don't have an answer for this, but as someone that has also deconstructed in the last few years I have found that I enjoy being able to truly celebrate people. when religious, god got all the credit. now it's the people. a good dr, a kind cashier. all accomplishments and milestones of family and friends. when people try to be humble and make themselves small, I tell them to stop it and to shine bright! brag about yourself. I see this as a pretty good replacement. Idk if I explained this very well but I hope it gives you something to at least celebrate more while you look for that magic

Witchcraft. It is the best thing I have ever done. It's not a religious belief; I do not believe in religion. I use witchcraft to create rituals and intentions. It is ancient, beautiful, magical, and done entirely on my terms.

I saw religion as rules and confines, less so the unexplained magic. I still believe in magic and am awed by creation as a whole. While astrology has helped me so much, science hasn’t answered all the questions and maybe that’s the magic: seeing the beauty that truly can’t be fully explained.

Exmormon here too! I would argue that Mormonism isn’t believing in magic, it’s all certainty and hands you all the answers. I feel like being out, I believe in magic again, because there are endless possibilities, nothing is certain, it’s a mystery. If that makes sense. Also, the magic is inside you, you are the magic. Not the priesthood 🤢 hahaha…but I totally get how you’re feeling. We get to create our own magic now…we were always supposed to get to.

Our world is sooo cool! We have magic you are just used to it. There is more unexplored ocean than there is unexplored surface of the moon. Did you know that otters carry around a favor rock and will sometimes give it to another otter that they love. Did you know that the discovery of volcanic vents in the ocean floor changed the way we know energy transfer on the planet. before their discovery it was believed that ALL energy started with the sun. But there is an entire food chain that exists independently from the sun's energy. Did you know reindeer can swim? like pretty dang fast too. There is so much unknown. You know that monarch butterflies are migratory, right? Well! their migration is so long that most do not survive it. But! They have babies along the way and the babies just continue where their parents left off. A mom monarch butterfly will lay 1 egg on each milkweed plant because that baby needs to eat the whole plant to develop. scientists still don't fully understand how they complete such incredible migrations. Sea turtles live for so long and travel endlessly they can wrap around the earth multiple times in their life. Just going cross country almost killed me. Just look up Greenland sharks! DUDE! Magic is everywhere. There is so much unexplained crazy things. Touch grass, sing to a tree! This world is magic and it is there just for you to enjoy!

I grew up Mormon and it destroyed organized religion for me. I had my astrological chart done a couple of years ago and learned that having a spiritual practice is something I need in my life, based on my chart. That opened the door for my spiritual practice, meditation, tarot, a little magic and some therapy! LOL!
