What an absolute honor this is. Three years ago, when I started making skits on my tripod in my apartment bedroom, I never would’ve imagined this! What started as an outlet because of my love for theatre and performing, has turned into something truly so special, and I am so thankful for this job and for all of you who support me. It means the world and more. I was recently asked about what advice I would give young creators who aspire to be actors, but worry about blending the two. I honestly didn’t feel super qualified to answer the question because I don’t feel like I’ve ā€œsucceededā€ as an actor. It’s such an interesting dynamic to feel so much movement in one field, and so stagnant and often times defeated in the other. For example, as I was being sent the congratulations & photos from Time, I was also being told that I wouldn’t be moving forward in a few auditions that I was pretty hopeful about. (See last pic as I started crying on the plane, it happens lol). My reason for sharing this is not for pity, but more so as an answer to the question I was asked. Because truthfully I receive messages from aspiring creators, who want to pursue acting but don’t know how to start, all of the time. My advice, GO FOR IT! Don’t let the fear of defeat in one field while you succeed in another, stop you from pursuing a passion. I’ve learned that these two things, success & defeat, can exist at the same time & I should use both as motivation to keep creating, keep auditioning, keep writing my own projects, keep making skits, and keep gratitude front and center. It’s a long-ish caption I know, but I wanted to just keep it real and honest. It was so inspiring to be in the same room with so many incredibly talented, hard working, courageous & beautiful creators last night who all share a passion for creating content they love and want to share to the world. I’m in awe of all of them & am honored to share this space with them. None of this would be possible without the support from so many of you, so again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you! #fyp
