House Stark before the show and during their early reign were horrible, horrible people. They had a conflict called the “Rape of the Three Sisters”. It was a thousand year conflict between the North (Starks and the Boltons) and the Sistermen (House Sunderland, House Borrel, House Longthorpe, and House Torrent.) It is said that they had executed 3K prisoners in a day, killed children and boiled them in pots, disemboweled men and wound their entrails in weirwood trees (the Trees of God or whatever), and made a Pink Pavillion out of a 100 sistermens’ flayed skins. During House Starks origins of becoming a kingdom, they had wiped out entire bloodlines to gain control. (Think with the Targaryen lineage ((Yes they lowk deserved it)), and House Reyne.) They also hunted Dire Wolves to extinction below the wall, you even see this in the first episode where they were going to kill that Dire Wolf but Jon convinced them otherwise. Very Honourable.
