But the movie is only a representation of the Polynesian subset of the austronesian family and not the whole . Even the directors stated that they took inspiration from various Polynesian cultures , since the Polynesian culture had already developed further from its Austronesian roots , making it its own culture which is why we have many differences from then till today .
