My Granny always told me don't get frustrated if you can't find your keys or get cut off in traffic, it's somebody preventing you from getting hit by a truck down the road.😁

I work in Customer Service, when somebody is rude with me I just remember * silently in my head* “ oh poor thing their dog died this morning”. I know that I’m doing my job to the best of my ability, and the empathy that I have for that rude person now that I remember that their dog died this morning, helps them have a better day.

This is how I was raised, and it made me such an easy mark for abusers. I no longer automatically extend the benefit of the doubt, and I am far less generous in my assumptions now. I'm still curious--I still lead with curiosity--but I want to have my eyes wide open

I picked my husband up and drove him to the hospital as he was going into anaphylaxis. I drove like an asshole, but since then I think about that time every time someone else is driving like an asshole.

a woman cut me off today and gave me the finger until i was no longer in her eye sight. it did in fact dictate my emotions for a while. how do you turn that on its head when the person is so blatantly rude and malicious

Saw someone flying up behind us on the freeway, started to get angry, and then saw someone doing chest compressions in the back seat as they passed us. This was over 30 years ago and I can still see them

I assume they are heading to hospital ER with a young child in the car. I explained this to my son and one day i let it slip and lost it with a driver, my son dutifully reminded me he might be on his way to hospital with his young child. it actually works if you remember it.

My toddler had a head injury recently and kept losing consciousness (he’s absolutely fine now) but my husband was cutting EVERYONE up and people were mad, meanwhile I’m in the back thinking my baby was about to die
