It is a tricky thing for sure. The proper way would me too politely excuse yourself and ask if you are this so-and-so that you like this and that about what they've done and then to ask. But some aren't as good about that and just go for it expecting that you know that they know who they are and remind me to doesn't work like that. Is the world we live in.
