I feel like the couple could win a court case and not lose the 10k since the venue was not upfront about the pricing

It kills me that the venue got $10k for free.

Sounds like the venue makes their money from cancellations not hosting weddings

I paid a total of $8000 for my venue and catering that included a full course platted dinner, dessert bar, soda bar and full bar. My venue was available from 8am to 12am, security included, bridal suite and dance floor 😁

Wait. You put the base cost of the venue ($18,000) into the cost per guest? Because that is $300 BUT if you’re just looking at the additional 3k, then you are at $42ish per guest. They’re not charging 300 per plate or their cost would be $18k + $21k - I’m confused

Is it even possible to be at $3,000? Like, could the venue present a meal option that is even close to that? I feel like, legally, the minimum should be just that. A realistic pricing option with bare minimum selections.

The venue did NOTHING wrong. The couple didn’t read, didn’t plan, didn’t listen, didn’t look. Plain and simple. She even said, venue cost PLUS $3,000 food and beverage minimum!!!! Not a total minimum.

So, could they just invite maybe 5 people and still get married there for the $10k instead of losing it? Just curious.

but if the $3k minimum is without a listed guest count, I would assume that that's "even if you only invite one person, it's $3000", if it was based on a guest count it would say that on the contract. I'm amazed at how bad people are at reading and understanding contracts. why why why wouldn't you ask how much it's going to cost? it's completely on them so far

I got a house, trip, and new car instead of a big wedding. Mainly because I don’t like how the wedding industry is

As someone that really wants to build a wedding venue, this is like a long list of everything that will never be done. 😂😭 love that this fell in my lap.

False advertising they need a small claims court and get their $$$ back. File the suit BEFORE payment. Provide cancellation and reason for cancellation via certified letter, email and social media text all the numbers you have w the cancellation so they dont have the information. A judge may make you pay but also lower the amount.

my wedding was super cheap. I got married on the beach, got chairs, arch, and flowers for free because me and my wife worked for the rental company and had the reception at a friend's restaurant so he gave us a discount

this is probably just my own idea and not actually real but when caterers say "$XYZ MINIMUM" I interpret that as the amt it will take to pay the employees and the electric bill to even think abt making food.
