@dotlabmedia: For the first time since their 2002 debut, euro banknotes are getting a complete redesign, with the European Central Bank (ECB) unveiling ten finalist proposals focused on two main themes: "European Culture" and "Rivers and Birds." Selected from over 1,200 initial graphic designer entries by a 21-member jury of design, neuroscience, history, and communication experts, these finalist concepts are currently open to a public vote through September 21 for all European citizens. The ECB's Governing Council will choose the winning design by the end of 2026, though the notes will not enter physical circulation for several years while they undergo technical development, security testing, and production-during which time current euro notes will remain valid alongside them. Beyond the fresh aesthetic, the new series will feature advanced anti-counterfeiting security, improved accessibility for visually impaired individuals, and more sustainable, durable materials.
