*part 3!* As an English Literature PhD student, I’m always trying to demystify literature online: I think that a university humanities curriculum can sometimes be seen as out of reach, or esoteric. I share a lot of stuff to help break out of the academic ivory tower and spread the joys of literature to anyone and everyone. To that end, here’s a short list of the novels that you’d see on most English Literature students’ first-year syllabi. Hint: many of them read the densest (hi Middlemarch) over summer, before term begins.
