A British man who unalive his wife with a hammer, hid her body in a freezer and sent texts pretending she was alive downloaded Tinder just two days after unaliving her, according to prosecutors.David Barraclough, 46, was sentenced on Friday, Oct. 9, to life in prison with a minimum term of 22 years and one month for the February murd*r of his wife, Carolann Barraclough, a mother of three.Prosecutors said Barraclough unalived his wife sometime between Feb. 19 and Feb. 21, then tied up her body and placed it inside a chest freezer in the utility room of their family home in England.Over the following weeks, Barraclough told Carolann’s family, friends and neighbors that she was hospitalized with an illness and that only he was allowed to visit her.He also sent messages from her phone pretending to be Carolann and telling loved ones she would soon return home, prosecutors said. In the meantime, Barraclough barred Carolann’s children from entering the room containing the freezer and later reset her phone to factory settings.Just two days after unaliving his wife, he downloaded the dating app Tinder, prosecutors said. CCTV footage also showed him regularly visiting local pubs, while financial records revealed he had withdrawn substantial sums of money from the couple’s joint bank account.On March 5, approximately two weeks after Carolann was last seen alive, Barraclough walked into Normanton Police Station and told a receptionist, “I’ve unalived my wife.”Police subsequently discovered Carolann’s body inside the freezer at the family home.Barraclough initially claimed his wife had attacked him with a hammer and that he unalived her in self-defense.
