Worked for one of the largest insurance companies in the country. This is only true for low end insurance companies. humana, Atna, BCBS, United Healthcare and whatever major brands people will likely have all have their medical decisions made by RNs PA or retired doctors. These companies are aware this is a thing and will not lose money on stuff like this. Plus most if you want to go down the route of calling the HIPAA office, almost all of them wilm never have them available by phone and will only contact via email. They can and will refuse to explain who is viewing your records if there is no HIPAA violations that have occurred and even if you threaten to sue, they will take you to court as they've got lawyers on stand-by for just such an occasion. Not trying to glaze the American insurance world, but as someone whose seen the inside of the system. there is no winning with them.

I stand by the decision that insurance should have to cover anything a doctor recommends. Will a few doctors take it to far to get more billings? sure. but i think overall it would really help people
